2004 Club Car 48V - Reverse full speed only
I am relatively new to the forum and electric carts but I have a 2004 Club Car DS, 48v. When I bought it a few months back, it seemed to work fine, but I have noticed that reverse is now only full speed. Forward is still variable and working fine. Does anyone know what I should check to get it back to variable reverse.
Thanks |

Does your cart have lever type F&R under right leg or a rocker type switch on box in same location so forum knows better how to help you test for problem.

Re: 2004 Club Car 48V - Reverse full speed only
I dont have a 2004 wiring diagram but normally the half speed limit control for reverse is controlled by the third micro switch ( nearest to batterys ) on back of your F&R control. It has ( 3 ) wires black, white, green ( from a 2002 diagram ) that plug into end of micro. Micro's get sticky from water and age so I would cycle it a few times by hand and see if it makes a difference? If not replace Club Car part number 102250201 $13.20.

Re: 2004 Club Car 48V - Reverse full speed only
Well, compared to the forward speed, it is about half speed, I just don't have any variable speed control going backwards. Shouldn't reverse also be variable? This is my first cart so I'm not totally up on how they work yet. Thanks

Yes you should have a variable speed just like forward if half speed micro is working correctly.

OOPS forgot to ask if any wiring, batterys or control changes been done lately to cart? Incorrect installation of parts etc could possibly be a cause?

Re: 2004 Club Car 48V - Reverse full speed only
No, just bought it and from what I can remember, it worked fine. It has just sat in the garage for a couple of months and it now reverse isn't variable. I am positive it worked when I did buy the cart. Yesterday I changed all the battery cables because some of the cable ends needed replacing so I upgraded them all from 6 GA cables to 4 GA cable and it still has the same problem. Batteries are relatively new but I haven't check the voltage yet.
