Trojan Battery lifespan?
Ok, if I have a set of Trojan t875 8v batteries, how long is the typical lifespan?
the batteries stamp on the neg term is K8. from what I gather means that they are NOV 2008! is that correct and should I change them out soon? I don't know how much they were used before I got the golf cart last May 2013, I know that I use the golf cart almost daily! and help would be great! |

Re: Trojan Battery lifespan?
As long as you are happy with your run time they are fine. They don't need to be changed out until they are practically dead as in won't hold a charge. Lifespan? I have seen some last close to 10 yrs if properly taken care of. But that is not usual. Usually lasts 5 to 6 yrs and they no longer hold much of a charge towards the end. Again ..unless you are unhappy with your runtime, keep them watered and charged and use them till they drop. No need to change just because they are old.

Re: Trojan Battery lifespan?
You are doing something right! The average useful life of those batteries is 4.5 years in the southern heat.

Re: Trojan Battery lifespan?
When I bought my 2003 CC DS two months ago it had the original Trojan Batteries C3 date stamped. The cart ran when I test drove it. I changed the to new Trojan T875s immediately. I wish I would have done some more testing with the 11 year old batteries, but I just wanted a piece of mind...

Re: Trojan Battery lifespan?
Somewhere , possibly in one of the many forums on GC's it say to charge your cart regardless of how long or little you use it every time. Never let it sit discharged and use distilled water.

Re: Trojan Battery lifespan?
yeah I was told that when I bought it, I've always tried to remember to plug it in when its not in use. I forget sometimes but not enough to make a difference I don't think.
