E-Z-GO TXT 1996 After Market Wiring
I recently purchased an used E-Z-GO 1996 golf cart and the batteries went out after a month of use (they were 9 years old). I purchased new batteries and hooked everything back up and the front lights blew because I believe I hooked them up wrong. I bought new bulbs to replace them. The after market wiring was already in place and working when I purchased the cart. I just need to know which battery to hook the wires up to so they do not blow the bulbs again. The front and rear lights are wired to the 3 key switch and there is a red and black wire run to the batteries. There is also a red and black wire for the batteries meter light. I have the red wire hooked up to the Positive terminal of the first battery in the first row closest to the front and the black ground to the Negative terminal of the first battery in the second row. I just wanted to verify that is the right sequence for the lights also before I try it. Any help would be very much appreciated.

Always best practice to use a meter to make sure of voltage/connections before wiring in the load.
