Default 94 gas DS club car - cranks but gas engine won't fire

I have a gas powered Club Car DS, the electric starter/generator runs but the gas engine won't kick in. Is it the igniter? I thought I was getting a spark (I put a spark plug tester on the wire and it lit up) but it just won't fire. There is a strong smell of gas and I even poured some into the cylinder at the spark plug opening so it's got plenty of gas. It was running fine, then we stopped for a half hour and now it won't start. What is the possible problem?

i would make sure your plug is firing and not fouled,,,, take plug out, put wire back on adn rest it aganst teh engine housing and crank it over,, watch the plug to see if firing,,,

thanks, but I tried all that. Even replaced the spark plug, still no luck. Might have to resort to taking it in to the shop.....bummer

Make sure that Carb is opening up, operate it by hand maybe the linkage has failed, also make sure the fuel tank is not in the off position..

Have a read up on this Pat, these coils do some very strange things. As mentioned previously, also check the throttle for correct operation. I am not aware of any fuel cut off tap.
