Does #4 or #4 cable fit thru on board computer ??
OPPS.....WRONG SUBJECT LINE ...DOES #4 or #2 cable fit thru the on board computer ??
. i am thinking of upgrading battery cables and solonoid in advance of new motor and speed controller.... . However the 2005 club car president has an on board computer that controlls battery charging...has anyone tried to pull or change this size of the #6 wire going thru this unit.... . considering a chain is only as strong as it's weakest link...this must be also changed...not saying i can't do it....but would like to hear from anyone who has ALREADY tried...... |

I had no trouble with #4 cable, just attach lug after passing thru OBC.
If you use 2 cable strip off jacket from pass thru point ,then add back shrink sleveing & lug. |

Or just leave the stock #6 and run a new one around the OBC, leaving the new and stock both connected.

Re: Does #4 or #4 cable fit thru on board computer ??
Quote from 96ironman...http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...s-4-gauge.html
"Take a 3" length of 5/16 threaded stainless steel. Wrap a 1/2" thick piece of insulator tape in the center. Stack yourself 2 x 1 1/2" neoprene 5/16 washers, 2 x 1" 5/16 plastic washers. One on each side of the tape gap. Then stainless washer and nut on either side to snug the shaft up in the hole. Then the stainless washers and nuts to make battery posts on either side after the first set of washers and nuts. 3" works depending on the thickness of your washers. Be careful not to overtighten the nuts after placing stack through the hole and you obviously have to hold the first set of nuts with a wrench when tightening the final nuts. Now you essentially have battery posts on either side of the OBC and you can do whatever thickness of cable you want. It looks like CC made it that way. I used 4 gage I had custom made by a guy on eBay. They were beautiful. You can have them color coded to the stock cables. Coat everything in dielectric grease. I'm on the road or I would send a pic. Hope this helps." End quote! |

Re: Does #4 or #4 cable fit thru on board computer ??
thanks everyone... i wasn't sure whether it was just a PASS THRU or a fixed joint....
since the OBC is basically an on board recording AMP PROBE measuring current spent... i would perfer to just pass a wire thru and not place terminals with washers close to the sensing area that might alter the maganetic field setup when current is moved through a wire . |

I think that was the point of using all stainless ,no magnetic field interruption

Why not use an aluminum threaded rod. Less resistance and not magnetic.
