I use Loctite SI 5900 Instant Gasket Part No. 40478 at my dealership...we do a lot of these brake jobs and the handle that comes on the nozzle makes application easy...It also dries pretty quick which is a plus

I would measure the total stack height of the old and new brake parts to see how much wear there is. It wasn't all that much on mine. These brakes last a long time under normal use. Yamaha recommends a fluid change every four years. Most probably don't do it that often.

In between my last update and today, I had chatted with the previous owner, and it sounds like they used this cart hard. I doubt the oil was ever changed, that's for sure. It was used on a smallish farm, probably about 20 acres. My feeling is they worked this cart hard. And who knows if they took it off some sweet jumps or what.

Today I swapped out the brake disks. I ended up going with the full kit, but I honestly think it was only one brake disk that needed to be replaced. The one disk that needs to be pressed on and off was basically bare metal. Tomorrow I'll put the oil in and test it out.

Taking into account bearing roughness I recommend comparing the cost of a complete transaxle verses the brake parts. Three years ago the cost difference was around $250. I replaced the entire unit.

@Yamadano: where did you find the entire axle? Do you have to go through a dealer for that?
