Default New Deer Hunting Cabin Advice?

I just purchased a 40 acre parcel in Michigans upper peninsula that is completley surrounded by federal land (no neighbors for miles) and tons of trails, hence the reason for my new cart project.. Anyways, we had plans to build a cabin but due to new codes, which are bascially set-up now to make sure there are no more low cost deep camps being built, we had to back out. If we followed codes, a 24x24 cabin would bascially run me well over $50,000 by the time its done.. Sure, I could do much of the work myself but its not my goal to spend my only weekends up there working my butt off to meet inspection deadlines. I purchased the land to enjoy the area, not to go there and work everytime.

So, I am looking for alternative ways to get some type of building on there for a deer camp without going broke and without having to do to much work (sorry I'm not camping when its zero outside).. Keep in mind during the summer my wife will be going there and she is not into roughing it. We thought about a modular but the smallest ones we can find are over 1000 sg ft and over $40,000 and then I still have to figure in foundation, well and septic.

I then thought about just having a large 24x32 garage or storage builidng put there and then when the final inspection is done, going in and finishing the inside with a bedroom, kitchen and bath BUT by doing so, I have to put in a well and septic, which requires permits and more inspections and then the inspector will want to know what the hell we are doing. We thought about a pull behind 30-35' trailer but even with a slide out, its not enough room for a handfull of guys at deer camp.

To sum it up, I'm looking for low doe ideas?

Thanks
