I took my first trip downtown today with my wife to try out the range of my NV. We made it down to the pizza shop and then I headed for home. Just like all the previous excursions my battery gauge showed about 50% discharge at 3-4 miles. I've never driven it until the battery warning light (and beeper, it turns out) comes on, which it did at about 8-9 miles.
Although spooky with a warning light lit up on the cluster and a beeping every 30 seconds or so, I continued driving around the neighborhood until I lost my nerve at 11 miles total. My gauge showed empty at 6-7 miles but I was able to maintain top speed, accelerate normally, and had no apparent loss of power when I climbed the driveway and parked in the garage.
My problem must be with the instrument cluster and not the batteries.
So, I have a fault code and an innaccurate battery gauge to figure out.
Otherwise I couldn't be happier with the performance and handling of my Bomb. I sure would like to chat with some other NV owners to get more of an idea what is a "normal" cruise range for these rigs though.
