Here's what happened to me. Draw your own conclusions. My carts voltmeter used to consistently read in the 46.x volt range.(on the biggest hill I go up) After I upgraded to #2 wire it dropped down into the 45.x volt range. In my reasoning bigger cable allowed it to draw more current. More current equals more voltage drop. To me that's normal. My 2¢.
