I think you can rebuild the steering boxes. Do a search on this forum for that. Somebody else has done this.

But the first thing you may want to do is have someone turn the steering left 'n right and see if the play is in the box, or if it's where your tie-rod ends hook onto the box link. If you have play in the tie-rod ends, or where the tie-rod bolts to the steering, that could be where your issue is. Could be worn bolts, or perhaps a tie-rod end needs replaced.

I was having some issues and determined it was the tie-rod ends. I fixed that and all is now good!!
