If you're having clutch issues, I would get them resolved before wrecking a new belt. Bad clutch can kill a belt fast!
Remove the clutches (both if possible). Inspect the ramp buttons on the secondary clutch (the one on the rear end). take the primary clutch apart as far as you can, clean it up (it's probably got rust, corrosion, or dirt/gunk preventing it from moving freely). see what you're really working with before you damage something, it's not going to fix itself so driving it like it is will only complicate matters.
