Default Re: prep work for painting plastic bodies

I have a question:

Had to sand down some runs and issues with paint job, sanded the entire thing up and painted a new base coat on. Unfortunately... some of the spots where the plastic had been exposed from the sanding came out very bad. I knew I should have hit it with Plastic Adhesion Promoter, but I wasn't sure what would happen if the adhesion promoter got onto the sanded down basecoat.

Does anyone have experience with this and what should I have done to ensure those spots came out correctly? i guess also, if i sand those spots down for another coat, how should i do that? I'm new to painting golf carts.

Using a JB basecoat from shopline and JC660 clear coat.
