We used to do it that way but there was about a 50% chance of improper charging. In some years the OBC calculates amperage usage by reading what passes thru it in the cable if you use the bypass method it gets only a partial reading.
In these carts we thought the OBC was shutting the charger off prematurely based upon what it perceived as the amperage usage.
