I picked up an aluminum sheet the size I needed (1/16 in), cut it to size and hammer formed it to the proper shape (using a broken one for a pattern). Then using the hinge from my broken one I riveted it to the new formed door painted and installed it and have never had to replace the plastic one again. Hammer forging soft aluminum is easy and just takes a little time and patience.
