Default Re: Confused about rattle can timing

So these are just my personal opinions on you're questions. Others will certainly have their own.
1. Sand with What Grit? - maroon scotchbrite
2. Clean
3. Primer
4. Sand with What Grit? - no need
5. Clean
6. Primer (how long between coats?) - depends on temp but usually about 15 to 20 min
7. Sand with What Grit? - 400-600 wet sand
8. Clean
9. Clean
10. Clean
11. Paint
12. Sand with What Grit? - no need unless you have a ton of debris in it
13. Clean - tack cloth
14. Clean - skip
15. Paint
16. Sand with What Grit? - again no need unless you have debris
17. Clean - tack cloth
18. Clean - skip
19. Paint (how long between coats?) - same as before depending on temp
20. Sand with What Grit? - no need unless you have more debris than you would like. The reason I say no sanding the color is rattle can paint is so thin you will basically sand off the whole coat you put on trying to smooth it out.
21. Clean - tack cloth
22. Clean - skip
23. Clear coat (how long after final paint coat?) - one fog coat to start after a couple hours of dry time and then lay them on regular after that.
24. Wet sand with What Grit? (how long after clear coat?) - 1500 to 2000. wait at least a day. And remember don't sand anywhere you cannot safely get a buffer into like inside radiuses.
