Re: Painting Black Plastics on a Precedent
To get a good lasting fisish:
1 Go to auto paint store, not parts store, buy:
Adhesive promotor such as Bulldog, primer, paint, clear coat if needed and whatever thinner/ cleaner needed. Tell em what you're paintin and they'll tell you the type of primer and paint you will need.
2 Wash well with dewaxer/degreaser.
3 Scuff or sand.
4 Wash again with dewaxer/degeaser.
5 Thoroughly dry.
6 Wipe with cleaner/thinner. Let dry.
7 Apply adhesive promoter.
8 Apply primer within specified time or you will have to sand.
9 Fine sand any rough spots.
10 Apply either 2 stage or basecoat/clearcoat paint with however many coats you want. Usually 2. Let dry.
11 Wet sand and buff.
Or do what MrGolf said.
The results will be about the same. It just depends on how much time you have on your hands.
