Are you sure those are each 24VDC batteries?... That would be 72v on the pack.
I'd bet those are 12volt batteries, giving you a 36volt pack.
You could check with a DVOM to be sure.

I would not have used 12v batteries to make the pack, but you bought it that way. So I'd run it until it doesn't fit your needs. Six, 6v batteries will get you more distance than your three 12v batteries.
