I have a 2009 Stealth Patriot 4 x 4 48-volt (8 6-volt batteries). Live in south Central Alabama, so no hills to speak of. Has Stealth 4 x 4 controller. Does have a winch that is wired to a box (voltage regulator?) that is then wired to positive and neg of 2 of the 6-volt batteries. I'll go take pictures.

Everything stock, has 24 x 10-12 mud tires.
