I fear that BCM is on the money with the crankshaft seals. In addition to powering the fuel pump, crankcase pressure is what transfers fuel from the crankcase to the cylinder. Even gravity feeding the carburetor will not make it run if there is no pressure. Try BCM's spray solution. If the engine note changes, even if it still won't start, it's new seal time.
