In my opinion the old 5 solenoid is far superior than the Vglide for high current switching.

A few things to keep in mind, specially with the bigger tires and faster Motor:
1) Solenoid Contacts are damaged by opening or closing while a lot of current is passing thru the contacts.

2) The Master Solenoid never opens or closes while current is passing.

3) The Motor will consume the highest current while accelerating from 0 mph.
So when a Solenoid fails welded you need to replace it right away or the Master Solenoid may get damage as well.

You also want to accelerate slowly and don't get to WOT right away or your high speed Solenoid will take a bigger inrush current when it closes.

I think Club Car actually made some thicker resistor coils for their high torque Motors, but a Controller provides a much smoother and efficient ride.
