Near the end of the charge cycle each 6v battery should be charging about 7.7v, an 8v battery 10.3v after charging and resting for an hour or more the 6v battery should be 6.4v and the 8v should be 8.5v. Total pack voltage after charge and rest for 48v should be 50.96v
In non-scientific terms, as a battery declines in charge the lead sulfate increases and the lead and acid declines and some lead sulfate settles to the bottom. Charging boils the battery and causes the electrolyte to mix and re-energize the plates, restoring the charge.
