I believe it does increase your runtime and its doable, I did it on my 1990 ds.... I used 2 pieces of aluminum angle and got it to fit... I had to trim some body by the seat since they ride higher and set does ride on them so I use a piece of foam across them for now until I drop it down another inch or so.
