swapping steering columns
4 Attachment(s)
I have the parts to do this has anyone else ever swapped out the columns? Just wondering if there was anything I needed to know about it before I start.
Take the old stuff out then cut the plate where the column is mounted now for the new one to pass through and new bolt holes. Weld a flat plate in the bottom under the springs for the R&P and use the same hook up on the axle as now. Shouldn't be that hard. The hard part will be getting the hole cut for the column to pass through.:help: |
Re: swapping steering columns
Is that an old marathon steering you are swapping? I have an early 90s ezgo pcx that I wanted to convert the steering to something newer but I haven't found anyone that has successfully done it. Just looking for some insight.

Yes I want to take the old Marathon steering out and install a newer rack & pinion in it. It drives OK now and is tight but I just think the R&P will be much better at higher speeds. Which is what I'm going for. |

Re: swapping steering columns
Yerf Dog uses a nice little rack and pinion system on there UTVs that could be made to fit relatively easy.
