Forward/Reverse cable issue
 

Hello everyone, new guy here. I posted a link in the Lifted section and haven't gotten advice yet so I thought I'd try to solicit responses from a more specific section of this forum. Basically, I installed a 6" Jake's Lift and new shocks on my 2001 gas Club Car (all done with the help and research from this site, even used site sponsors for purchases). Now the metal sleeve/heat shield will not fit into it's original location because the longer shock is in the way. Have any of you had this problem with your carts? What was your solution? Can you remove the metal sleeve? If so, how did you do it? Are you able to bend the sleeve to make it go around the shock? If so, do you have to be careful how much you bend it so you can still engage the cart into gear? Attached is a photo of the cable taken out of the bracket. If you need a better picture to assess the problem, let me know and I'll get another one. Thanks for you help. Oh, I couldn't help but add before and after pics of the cart. It's not complete yet but with the help of this site, it's well on it's way.

Here's a pic of mine. I also have a 6" lift, but mine is an '87 and the bottom of the rear shocks mount in a different place. I'm guessing the bottom of your shocks mount on a plate that sits atop the u-bolt?

because of the metal sleeve i was unable to even get it into the mounting location. i wound up using a pipe cutter to remove the metal sleeve. got the cable mounted in there and it works. i thought the rims were a little over the top for a hunting cart but they are growing on me. thanks for the kind words! i'll post a pic of my fix this evening.

shocks mount to the original location on the mount beneath the axle. for some reason, the angle of the engine because of the lift seems more extreme than yours does. i did add 4 leaf hd springs to support the rear seat and passengers. maybe that affected the angle/engine placement too. anyway, as posted above, i solved the cable issue for now. next issue i have has to deal with the front engine mount (snubber?). the mount is at an extreme angle and the snubber constantly comes off. i think i am going to have to make an extension in order to drop the engine about 2-3 inches. ill post pics of that this evening also. if you all have had this problem, i'd love to hear/see how you fixed the issue.

Here is a pic with the rear seat installed. Only need a seat back and top to complete it. Well, until we start working on torque.

What size wheels are them? And where did you have the paint done? All looks very nice!

23x10.5x12. I actually purchased this cart from a buddy who didn't have time to finish it. The paint was already done when I got it. My buddy took the body off and had it sprayed with a bedliner material. It is great because we want to use it at a ranch during bird season and we won't have to worry about scratches. The bedliner material was a nicer product with a shine to it so it cleans up well. I have had to find longer trim (aluminum cowling trim) bolts because the bedliner material made the body about 1/4" - 3/8" thicker. Also had to file down the hole for the choke assembly so it would fit. Other than those minor issues, I really like the bedliner material. I originally wanted steel wheels but didn't want a blacked out cart so I decided to add fancy wheels to break it up a bit.

Here's my front drop. Just a piece of square steel. Your front tab may look different, mine was pretty easy.

Does your front bracket come apart like mine? I know on some newer ones they don't. Here's what mine looked like before I worked on it:

I don't know what yours looks like. I'm guessing it probably doesn't look like mine, you may have to cut a little.
