BigBattery 48v 3.2 Kwh Lion

Aware that my lead acid batteries needed replacing. A couple of batteries bulging, we could ride around my neighborhood on a full charge, roughly 5 miles, flat paved roads. They worked for us but i knew the end was coming so i babied them. I was planning on replacing with new batteries soon. Looking at around $700 for a new set of lead acid. Just before Christmas I found at BigBattery a pack on sale for under $1000 delivered and use my existing charger. Called Bigbattery and was told these are not used packs from a leaf, or tesla .. The packs I was told are are new guaranteed for 10 years and they are NMC and do not need to make any changes to the charging that the batter BMS would manage the charging. Thought I would share my experience so far.
Full charge on these packs is 50.4 volts (Specs below)
When I received the packs they were at 48.5 and 48 volts so I charged them, they did charge up to 49.9 and 50.4 volts. I expected them to charge higher so I had tried charging them again and the after a few minutes the cart started fast beeping and the voltage on one batter went to over 60 volts . contacting Bigbattery they had me reset the BMS and all looked well. I am guessing the BMS disconnected its pack and this became open circuit voltage .
Here is my experience the past few days and did not charge after initial charge
Day 1 Rode 4 miles voltage at end 48
Day 2 rode 5 miles voltage at end 45.7
Day 3 rode 4.5 miles voltage at end 44
Day 4 rode 4.75 miles voltage at end 42.5

so roughly 18 miles.
Acceleration did suffer some but i still had no issues going 18 to 20mph we usually cruise at 13-15 around the neighborhood.
I am really pleased so far.
Note top speed at full charge was easily 23 mph and the weight difference was very noticeable. I am sure the more expensive packs out there will provide better distance but for what I paid and what we like to use the cart for I think there are a good option of lead acid.

That milage sounds about right for a 60AH pack. Does the BMS have a LV cutoff?

EDIT: I "found" the pack that I believe you have. https://bigbattery.com/products/48v-...golf-cart-kit/

The price is currently $1,200 and I don't know if that includes shipping or not. But for a "drop in" unit the price appears competitive.

I didn't read what the ten year warranty covers or how it would be determined if a unit is covered.

Just a few thoughts. And I'm glad it's working out well for you. Plus....no more battery terminal maintenance!!!

That's pretty cheap. How do they hook up to the cart?

Dave, the BMS does have a low voltage cutoff. I did one more ride of about 3 miles and the voltage dropped below 36volts and the BMS cutoff the battery packs. I was certainly pusing my luck since the voltage was around 39 volts. I cycled the breakers on both packs and they came back on. I gently drove the cart back home.
I do like that there is limited maintainance for water, and corrosion

Wakko47,
The packs come with 3 anderson connectors to join the two packs in parallel, and a second cable with ring terminals to anderson to connect the packs.

Thanks IRwynn. I found your thread right after I purchased the same pack from BigBattery. Have you learned anything new since your last update?
Looks like they don't ship till March 1st.

One thing I can't tell from their site is how to mount them? Are there any holes or tabs on the boxes? How did you mount them?
