Brake Pedal Assembly
 

Have a 1991 EZ Go with a standard brake pedal (no brake light operation) want to replace or convert with a brake pedal that will operate brake lights, the pedal will operate brake lights but still allow lights to shut off with Park Brake set. Does anyone have a brake pedal or what will work or readily modified for this cart,, Thank You..

It may be easier to fit a micro switch somewhere where the brake pedal arm hits it for the brake lights. You could also use something like a horn button and install it on your pedal somewhere so when your foot is pressing the pedal, it pushes on the button...

Thanks Mike but a friend had bought a cart exactly lkike mine and it had a brake pedal that had springs that alowed the suitch to activate but having bought the cart that way has no idea how or where it got that way, was hoping someone might know where I could buy the whole assembly to operate that way at a reasonable price,,, Thanks again Mike..

The problem is that the cart is a 1991. I don't have anything in my EZGO OEM parts for a Marathon anymore. The TXT brake pedal w/ lights assembly is around $165.00 and won't fit your cart. This is whay I suggested the alternative:thumbup:

Two microswitches with the metal spring tangs will do it. Mount one that is contacted when the brake pedal is in the rested position. Run a fused power source to the common terminal and a wire to the NC terminal so that wire becomes hot when you depress the pedal. Mount another switch that is contacted by the parking brake linkage. Run the wire from the first switch to the common on the second switch. Connect a wire to the NC terminal and run it to the brake light. The first switch will sense the brake pedal movement and the second switch will open the circuit when the park brake is on.

Do a search on member Andy4639. He has a setup that accomplishes what you are after using a '49 Chevy truck brake switch. I think member gornoman did the same thing as well.

Correct PG, but neither of our installations is configured to accomodate the hill brake. I ended up with a toggle switch in the dash to control the circuit manually. I would like to install the relay/timer solution I have heard about, but I have never seen part numbers or sources.....

Just put a microswitch like I mentioned in my earlier post where the park linkage locks and it will open the circuit.

Well I think all of you for the information and ideas my idea was to put the lights on the key switch and then everything work when key was on nothing work with key off ,,, then this friend said her brakes worked with the oedal and no other means of shutting anything on or off.. si thats what I am looking for.. here are a couple pictures of what she has the pad with a plate is spring loaded and when depressed lights the brake lights,, I know the poictures are not the best but best I can take with where it is and not take it off,,, see what you suggest I need to get to make it the same as this and again have no idea how or who caome up with it but he did and has long past left this world,,, any questions or ideas will see if I can answer them... That's the Factory brake pedal assembly for a cart with brake lights. It is no longer available from EZGO for a Marathon cart...
