Speed Code Onward Electric
Hello,
I have a lifted 4 passenger Onward, that does 19mph. The local dealer said they come with a speed code 3 , because they cannot exceed 20 mph What's the highest speed code 4 or 5? He said he can do speed code 4 and take the regen braking off which I hate |
Re: Speed Code Onward Electric
Speed code 4 is the highest from Club Car.
"Speed code 5" is the name of a "product" that does not work on the controller You have. |
Re: Speed Code Onward Electric
ohh ok, someone mentioned they goto a speed code 5
Then you have to change out the controller What would the benefits be of doing this? |
Re: Speed Code Onward Electric
None, Speed Code 5 is an old product for OLD Controllers....
If You change the controller to an Alltrax XCT the benefits are You can program all the settings without the need for a Dealer: Speed, Torque and Regen. |
Re: Speed Code Onward Electric
Ok thanks, I asked them to remove the Regen, That's not adjustable right? It's either on or off?
Every time I take my foot off the pedal the cart stops really fast and the dogs go flying all most off our laps Is it a good idea to have them shut the Regen off? |
Re: Speed Code Onward Electric
Since the stock drum brakes are not great, the Regen brake provides a great way to slow down and almost stop the cart.
There are a few levels of "intensity" that can be programmed, perhaps the "light" pedal UP regen brake may offer a compromise You like. |
Re: Speed Code Onward Electric
Perfect thank you ! I thought it was just on/off for the Regen, I'll ask them tomorrow when they program the speed code from 3 to 4

Re: Speed Code Onward Electric
When they delivered mine I immediately had them change the regen to only kick in when lifting completely off the throttle. Huge improvement. Mine also came with speed code 4 and IIRC it would do 20 or 21 when I first got it.

Re: Speed Code Onward Electric
FYI, you can not turn "OFF" the regen. You can turn off the "Pedal-Up-Mode", which prohibits the regen braking from taking effect "AFTER" you release the pedal. You can turn off the "Excel Braking" which prohibits the car from slowing itself down "AS" you release the pedal. But the regen braking is always going to be there to limit your top speed to a pre-determined maximum RPM within the controller. The Alltrax does the same thing, only you get to choose that RPM, within motor manufacturers specs of course. Not to mention, you'll get a nice boost of power with the Alltrax. On an Onward with a lift kit, I highly recommend the Alltrax XCT400, a minimum of 4 gauge cables throughout the power delivery system, and a minimum of a 200 amp solenoid. This will get your speeds into the mid 20s with plenty of extra torque and power in reserve.

Re: Speed Code Onward Electric
They can also turn the regen down. It’s set pretty aggressive from the factory IMO, especially for flat FL driving.
