First let me say, nice website with a great knowledge base. I look forward to contributing.

I picked up an incredibly ridiculous cart a few days ago and was doing my research about the serial number. I'm a little confused because my serial number is B89xxxxxxxx

According to the sticky, it was just a frame with electrics that Elmco turned into the greatest golf cart of all time :lhmo: the part I'm confused about is that it is listed as 48v. I currently have 6 6v batteries and it goes 16-17mph. I'm really not interested in more speed now, but I'm sure that will change. Any possibility it was setup for 48v?

The cart is in great shape except for a few small paint chips and blemishes. It came with a refrigerator, air conditioning, stereo and seemingly every other option you could imagine. I suspect somebody in 1989 said I want the best golf cart on the course and money is no option. You have to have a sense of humor to enjoy it :thumbup:

That is a pretty cool looking royal ride! If that is the serial number from the frame by your feet on the passenger side then its a 1989. Mine was an 1988. THe 36volts in correct. It is probably a resistor cart like mine was. No way it would be 48 volts. I have only heard of late 90's carts being controller models.

Not sure where you are located or how much you paid but around here people will pay a good amount for one of those. They are the best bang for the buck just older carts. Think about how much they ask for those mustang or chevy bel air carts. Much more than these usually cost but you really get looks with Royal Rides.

That's a really good looking cart you've got there, sure it may be a little over the top, but it's awesome! I like the paint scheme on it. :thumbup:

There are a few guys on here like golf cart man and sak00 who have really cool Royal Rides and they're always glad to help out the others who have 'em, looking forward to seeing what you do with it, and as always, pics along the way! :mrgreen:



By the way, you didn't happen to find a golf bag in there that looked like this did you? :lhmo:

We just bought one too! We just took it to get painted...I'm going with a light turquoise blue, it used to be light blue! I'm clueless on everything we are doing to it but this site helps a ton!

I get no respect I tell ya... I need to find out how to change my handle to "R.Dangerfield" :thumbup: I can't tell you how close I was to picking up one of those laser sight putters :lol: the wife wants me to put a horn on like Rodney's rolls and yacht.

I read lots of old posts about the 48v conversion and will definitely be ditching the brushfire starters in lieu of a solid state setup. (I'm not sure how hot they get, but things get dry up in Northern California) For now, I will just enjoy around the neighborhood and on our courses.

First upgrade was the 1980's audiovox tape player to a more modern head unit. Some might not consider a $31 Pyle stereo an upgrade, but it is a golf cart that will mostly used on the course so volume wasn't a priority :mrgreen:

The "brushfire starters" you referred to get REALLY FREAKIN HOT! Don't touch one after driving the cart, you won't like it, I promise. :lol:

48 volts will be nice, you'll gain 33% on speed and torque over whatever you've got now, it's a worthwhile upgrade.

The new radio looks good, :thumbup: Now about that TV... :lhmo:

They are actually pretty nice, they feel like anodized aluminum... Possibly the most pimp part, other than the simulated Dayton rims, is the key chain. I couldn't bring myself to change a thing. :happy6::happy6:
