Annoying Beeper to Awesome lights 88 marathon

Hey all,
Ok, so I have been meaning to unhook that dang beeper for a while now.
My boy and I put her in the shop and it was real easy just pulled that tiny red wire on the lower right side of the netrual forward reverse switch. ( from kneeling on floor with seat removed).
Then got to thinking how to utilize this, so we installed two 6 light led strips on the back and connected them where we unplugged the red wire. Ground from the lights we screwed to the metal frame.

Now go to reverse and lights brightly show you your path.
I love leds they burn very lightly power, easy on the battery and won't draw heavy loads melting insulation on wires like some other types.

Nicely done! I wonder what voltage you are feeding the LEDs though. Is it full pack voltage?... The pack isn't normally grounded to the frame like a car though. So maybe that's helping reduce the voltage 'seen' by the LEDs.

Either way, great idea on having backup lights! Cool idea.

DO NOT EVER ground anything to the FRAME. you need to run a ground wire to the batteries or use the same black wire that you took off of the beeper.

Love the idea of the back-up lights. Now I have a reason to finally disconnect my annoying beepers

I did this long ago with a Led plate light on my old G2 gas. Not too bright, just wanted to be able to see I wasn't running over the dog.

It is for safety reasons since we are dealing with higher voltages and a lot of amp capacity on electric carts.
