Running Slow With New Batteries
 

I have a '02 48V DS. The cart runs slow. Put a new set of batteries in it, and still running slow. Changed the mcor and still the same. The voltage between the m- and b+ on the controller while runnig is 41 to 42 volts. If you put cart on stands and take the A2 wire off motor,the voltage is battery voltage. Put a rebuilt controller on it and it did the same thing. Is new controller bad or something else? All cables are cleaned, and after running it, for 10 min.,:?:? I feel no hot cables.:?

OK - You may think this is a really dumb question, but did you put your batteries all in correctly? Are they properly wired in series? We've seen this many times at my shop...

Definitely check the battery connections. Something has to be wired wrong to be getting only 41-42 volts at the controller.

Check The Battery pack With A Meter And Tell Us What The Volts Are--:thumbup:

Did you fully charge the batteries and what type of batteries did you buy?

On a 2002 that is not an IQ(does not have a run tow switch), Your MCOR voltage at full throttle should read approximatley 7.8 volts. To check this you need to check the voltage on the yellow wire at the three pin connector that is pluged into the MCOR. With a volt meter set on the 20 volt setting, put black lead on battery number 6 negative post and red lead on the yellow wire close to the MCOR and close to the 3 pin connector. You are either going to have to use an insulation pierceing probe or cut some insulation off of the yellow wire to get a connection. Once you get connection depress gas pedal to full throttle and see if you are getting aproxx 7.8 volts. If you are not, this is limiting your top speed. Since you have replaced the MCOR we know it is most likely not the MCOR itself. It is going to be the linkage to the MCOR. That pickle fork thing that you noticed when you replaced it. You can either replace that pickle fork rod with a new one or you can wrap some tape or heat shrink around the worn spot. Just a little wear will make a difference in your top speed. The Batteries are wired correctly and the voltage is 51v. Cables are clean. Even after I run it a while, I don't feel any hot connections or cables. It will be Friday before I can get some help and double check the voltage on the yellow wire at the MCOR. Another question is why dont I get 51v between the m-;b+ when the cart is running, but I get 51volts when I take the a2 wire off and check it?

Have you ever owned the cart when it was running Faster than it is now ?
Hey if you have a GPS system check the speed in MPH,
Slow is a relative term as is Fast.
Tell us what U have and where you want to go ?

exp, NOW = 13 Mph would like to get to 20 Mph ?
