Using reverse for downhill brake assist
Not talking about 'gorilla' mode, but rather gently/lightly. When going down steep hills with limited brakes, will light use of the accelarator in reverse to slow cart, cause damage to HD torque motor or rearend?
I can see now how the newer sepex design with regen would be beneficial with speed control. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk |

Re: Using reverse for downhill brake assist
Why are your brakes "limited"? I'd address that first.

Not engineered or designed for that
Flintstone brake ... a better choice :D Brake parts are cheaper (easier) than a stripped drive train parts |

Re: Using reverse for downhill brake assist
In my hunting cart, here in Southwestern Pennsylvania....the only place that has steeper hills is West Virginia....and they have massive steep hills!!
When I first got my cart, I discovered going down a dir\mud hill proved to be way more exciting than any rollercoaster out there. The rear wheels would lock up...the semi-mud tires would fill with dirt.....and I was skating my way down the hill on a 1,000-lb cart!!! I went with Jake's front brakes as back then, the original Jake's location was in Pa. and about 1.5hr from where I live. Best stopping option I ever did. No more exciting down hill stops. Get some disc brakes on your machine. ScottyB sells 'em for the rear.....I don't know about the front.....but if you put 'em on the rear, you may not need front ones. FWIW |

Re: Using reverse for downhill brake assist
Putting a limited slip [posi] unit in the rear end helps with braking too by not allowing the lighter wheel to lock up before the other side.
