Plug in daily or not?

Just got a 2005 48 volt Club Car and want to take the best care possible of the 2 year old batteries. We will probably be using it for trips around town so just a few miles a day and probably not every day. Would it be better to plug into charger every day or after several days use. Thanks, Jim.

Plug it in at the end of every day.

Leave it plugged in whenever you are not using it.

To get the best life out of your batteries, charge your batteries after every use ... whether a short ride or a long one.

Leaving lead acid batteries in a discharged state for an extended length of time can result in the formation of lead sulfate on the battery plates. Depending on the depth of discharge and how long you leave the batteries discharged, the lead sulfate may permanently reduce the capacity of your batteries.

Many BGW members report significantly better battery life by following good charging and maintenance practices.

Thanks for the help. Now that it has been explained it all makes sense to me now. I will be back with more questions later. Jim.

Always plug it in when not using it.

Batteries store better when they are fully charged so it makes sense to plug the charger in after every use, no matter how short. Also if you have a float charger available it is good to give it a full charge with your CC charger then put it on the float until you use it again.

Any recommendation for an inexpensive float charger? Our cart gets mainly used on the weekends @ camp. It would be great to be able to put a true trickle charger on it during the week.
