Adding a 3 gang LED rocker switch to 2009 club car precedent

2 Attachment(s)
Ill make this as easy as I can but trust me it will be hard to follow. I have the 48v system. I added a 3 gang LED rocker switch kit to my dash. Switch one operates lights. Switch two turns on my USB / Cigarette port. Switch three is for future aux. I located my 12v wire coming from my voltage reducer. Added that to my first switch. So obviously my lights work. Here is where it gets really weird. My LED rocker switch panel is operating but the blue LEDs do not illuminate but the switches function. Also while trying different wiring configurations I did have them illuminate at one point..but can't figure out why they don't now. Also, I have power to switch number 2....the one my USB charger/ cigarette lighter is connected to. I know this because I ran a voltage test on the cigarette lighter and had 16v (I have no way to measure the USB ports). Which is odd that I had 16v. I turn off the switch and have 0v so I know I am getting power. There is a LED light on the USB side of the charger which isn't illuminated.....but I'm still showing power on the voltage meter. When I plug in my phone charger I have nothing. But when I run my hand held voltage meter I have 16v. I am beyond confused. I dicked with this **** thing for 5 hours....

Recount

No illumination on 3 gang LED rocker switch panel
Power to USB/Cigarette is showing 16 volts not 12
USB/cigarette won't charge my phone
US /cigarette LED light won't illuminate

It seems to me all the illuminated switches I have installed need a wire from the switch to ground for the led to light up. The screen shot you posted is too low res for me to see what the wires run to.

There should be three poles. Power in, power out, and ground on each switch.

If it is backlit as well as lit when on then it may need two ground poles per switch.

Somewhere there has to be a ground going from the gang to vehicle ground. It can't just be wired to itself. I don't see a black pigtail.

Ill check on that next time I work on it. Any idea why I would be showing 16v when I tested my cigarette port? Its being fed thru my voltage reducer and I tested that at 12-13v...

No idea. You might need to disconnect all the wires and check each positive pole to narrow down the issue. I have had devices wired up and a backfeed up the ground from one item powered another.

The only reason I could imagine you are getting more than the usual 12-13v somewhere is an error in the wiring pairs or a malfunction in a switch pairing up power.

This why I quit using backlit, indicator switches. No need for indicators for toggle switches. Up is on, down is off. Simple.

i have a similar one and it had 2 positive connections and 2 grounds if i recall correctly. Both need to be hooked up, one is for the back lighting and was was for the devices, if i remember right.

That sounds logical and necessary with back lighting and on signal lighting. Since they are gang wired any one of the switches in the chain could malfunction and not properly pass the flow to the next in the chain.

I prefer to gang wire them via the harness, not internally via the switch. A few more crimps that way but fewer potential problems if done well.

It was a ground issue. Everything is operating now. Thanks guys

Bad grounds can do funny things. Glad you got it sorted out.
