I forgot how small the tires were.. i calculated ... well lets just say with the motor at the rev limiter my top speed is 12 mph..in 5th gear..

Who has taken the rear end out on one of these? what gear ratio is it.. Can i get a 6-1 Hi speed rear end kit-- i only see them listed from 1988 and up.

the front sproket on the motor is a 13 tooth.. the rear welded on sprocket is also a 13 tooth.. The rear end seems like a 13:1 reduction drive-- coupled with small tires makes me not move and not happy:)

I ordered up a 28 tooth front sproket ( from the rear end of a yamaha kids quad-- 520 chain size ) and a 12 tooth Rear sproket..

I will have to weld a spacer / adapter so the 28 engine sprocket clears the ignition case on the dirtbike motor..

so here is my question.. Should i just turn the motor 90 degrees to the right and put a go cart axle on it? ifso anybody got one cheap?

this is what i would do , raise the engine mount up 2" and forward about 4 to 6" if possible so when the suspension compresses it does not hit the stationary part of the frame . then get a 8" long piece of 4130 .120 wall tubing in the diameter you need for your sprokets and 2 pillow block bearings and make a jack shaft , say engine sproket to smaller i.e. 10 tooth then on the other side of the jack shaft , use a 53 tooth, then run a chain from that 53 to the 13t on your axle and you should easy hit 70mph with that setup but you may have to go even bigger than that 53t ,

pm me if u like and i will give u my # and i can explain it alot better , also definatly u want to keep that axle its a dana and you will need its strength

Man....the way that rear "swing arm" is designed, and the limited space there in front of the pumpkin.....good luck. I hope you can figure something out because that engine would make that thing silly. Might have to tub it out and stick some Jr. Dragster slicks on it.:)

Could put a chalk mark on the tire and count the number of revolutions the input takes to turn the tire 1 rotation.

If you do make something up with some sort of jackshaft arrangement, here's a nice program for ratios & mph.

How much travel is there in that "swing arm" rear end? Would it be possible to mount the engine more forward, and run a short drive shaft with a universal on each end? Might not be possible...don't know the other specifics of that frame, seats, etc. With that much tq from the 450, it may be better to make that rear end solid anyways....(?)

Try 12 inch tires and rims on the rear! My standard cart would not pull them so yours should!
