Should I disconnect the batteries between chargings
 

Hi all;
I live in Ontario Canada where the winters can get bone chilling cold for weeks at a time. Here is my question about storing my cart for the winter.
I have a 1996 48 volt Club Car. I will not be using my cart form now till the end of May. I am storing my cart in my unheated garage where the temp will be around -20 deg. F. for the most of the time. I plan on checking the water level and voltage drop every week or two. Should I disconnect the main Pos. & Neg. batttery cables from my cart or leave them connected? What would be the differance?:dontknow::dontknow:

If it were me, I would hook up the charger once a week and let it run until it shuts off. Check the battery levels weekly and keep them at the proper levels. Severe cold is no good for any vehicle that sits for a long time. If you aren't going to use the cart at all until the end of May, I would seriously consider finding a warmer place to store the batteries, and hook them up to a trickle charger to keep them ready for next Spring/Summer.

Un-hooking your batteries won't help and might hurt them with the possibility of freezing the batteries. I grew up in North Dakota and I know the weather that you are expecting. Good luck and stay warm!!
