1% a day self discharge??

If after 12 hrs since charging and your 48v pack reads 50.9v (and since I'm having a brain fart with my math, well I won't tell you the real reason) what should this pack "really" read after say 7 days?

As per JohnnieB, at rest discharge rate is "as a general rule, 1 percent a day".

In answer to your question, according to JohnnieB's 1percent per day rule, 7 days leaves 93 percent of 50.9 volts which according to the math leaves 47.337 volts. That seems a little low to me however.

What I posted was an accepted standard of "up to 1% per day" This doesn't mean that your set will discharge this high. You may see a self discharge rate of half of that.

There is a big difference between 1% SOC/day and 1% voltage change/day. So in 7 days your state of charge would be 93% approx or 50.6V.

You are absolutely right!!! I'm a dummy. I knew those numbers didn't look right. Thanks JJANCE:thumbup:

It is an impossible question as it depends on the condition of your batteries and the external temperature.

Dave Box. I was talking standard temp and pressure. STP.

My point is that 1% is a sweeping generalization that may not be valid. As you can see from this chart a lead acid cell can do much better.

Had my pack out of the cart for two months. Sitting in the garage on a piece of wood. Thought I would check them before reassembling cart to make sure they had enough juice to activate charger.( 2000 CC DS with OBC) Volt meter showed all at 8.5 volts or better. Reassembled the cart and went for a ride. Did take the charger what appeared a little long to come on, but I seem to remember seeing that was normal after having the OBC disconnected.
