48v to 36v motor?

If I were to put a 36v motor in my 48v CC, is it a simple motor swap or is anything else required?

I see folks around me on classifieds/facebook occasionally selling old carts (most not running or need batteries) and thought I might could pick up a cheap 36v.
Or would I be better off to save the money and buy an Admiral, D&D, etc.?

Also, what 36v years are compatible with mine. I have a 2002 DS Series that is stock with the exception of an Alltrax 400 controller

Pros/Cons?

Any 10 tooth 36v motor will fit. Generally 1988 and up. Best practice would be to send the motor out to have the armature turned and undercut, and new brushes installed, as well as a new bearing before installing in your cart.
Putting a 36v motor in a 48v series cart is a nice inexpensive upgrade that can be enhanced by adding a higher flow speed controller, solenoid, F&R, and cables later.
