Making cart street legal?

We're under the impression that here in Florida one needs brake lights, turn signals, seat belts and a windshield wiper to be street legal.
The cart is a 1989 EZ-GO. 36 volt. It has a windshield, headlights and taillights.
As we have a whopping investment of 6 batteries ($430.00) and twenty bucks worth of cables in this thing, we're looking at doing this on the cheap.
Currently the cart resides at my girlfriend's place in a rural area where the cops don't mind seeing it on the street. We're also thinking of keeping it at my place so I can drive it to work (4 miles).
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Re: Making cart street legal?

contact your local authorities to see what makes it "legal" I know in Escambia county it's a mix of the tax collector and the DMV to get it street legal. Although, I have yet to see it accomplished.
