Head Light installation
 

Hello,
I was attempting to install a headlight/taillight kit on my 1999 G16 this weekend. Cut out the template that came with the kit, made the marks for the headlight on the front of the cart, made one of the cuts with my Dremel tool, so far, so good. When I insert the headlight into the opening, the back of the headlight hits the glovebox/storage box before it is flush with the front of the cart.
Anyone else had this problem?

Bummer. It doesn't look off by much. That sucks. Might have to trim out some of the glove box then make a false panel in the back of the box to hide it. Now that you've cut the opening, pretty much have to use those lights since others might fit differently. Maybe you can complain to the seller/Amazon and get a partial refund?

Hmmm. Those lights are much deeper than the "same" ones on my 16. Notch out the glove box and duct tape the hole...

Yes, I came very close to hitting the glove box as well - but luckily I put my hand up in there before I cut it, and realized that I needed to shift the light over a little.

Since you have it cut, determine how big you can make the opening and still attach the screws....

Depending on how much clearance you need try using a heat source (heat gun or torch) to soften the back of the glove box and push it in without cutting a hole.

Thanks for the advice.. I think I'm going to wait a couple more days and see if I get a response from the company I bought them from. If I don't get a solution there I think I'll try the heat gun before I cut a hole in the box. I'll let you know how it turns out.

I moved the nose on mine forward 3/4" and up 3/4" with out distorting the body. You might intertain that idea to see if it might work for you!!
