rebuilt starter now running backwards
I put new brushes and sanded the armature. Everything look very good but I did not mark the wires where they came from. I found some info on line that put the jumper wire F1 to A2. A1 neg and F2 pos. This spins the motor ccw on the pulley end of the starter. The gas engine has an arrow on it that shows it needs to spin cw. I get a lot of load barking out the intake so bad I can not hold my hand over it. I opened the valve cover and it look like the valve were working normally and not being held open as I first thought.

Re: rebuilt starter now running backwards
You do NOT want to spin a 4cycle engine backwards, the starter is a 12v electric motor and it doesn't care which way it spins. I don't remember which wires go where but you must be getting reverse polarity to the starter, Take the starter belt off and figure out the wiring so it spins the other way before putting the belt back on. Good Luck

I've also noticed that your other posts are about a Club Car. This is the EZGO section.
