Lowering a Club Car DS

As some of you know, I have been working a project for some time now.

http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/membe...oyal-ride.html

I am in need of some suggestions as to lowering my cart about 2".
I don't want to air bag it or get that technical. The rear is easy, just a couple of blocks and its done. The front is another story.

What are my options for lowering the front end of a CCDS?

Here's what I am working on.

I think you are faced with fabricating a new spring!

I figured as much. Just was wondering what other ways there were to do it. Thanks for the info.

Ugh!!!

I started playing with the lowering of my cart. The rear end had its challenges, but seemed to work pretty good.

The front , however, it another story. I was just mocking up to see if it would give me the look I was after. It looked great, but with the 14" rims and lo-pros, I am rubbing the glove boxes and the "firewall". I don't think this is going to work. I will play with it again today and see if there is a way to make it work. I dropped it 2". I will put the front clip back on and see if I can move the front axle forward some and keep it in the wheel well correctly.

Also the shocks were bottomed out (or topped out) so I thought about scrapping them, but I don't know. This may be one of those things that can't happen. We will see.

Ugh!

you might could get some of those golf cart air shocks and put on it. raise it when your riding and slam it when parked

1.Flip the bottom leaf over to put the spindale up higher.
2.Cut the top off at the weld and have it rewelded around the center of the spindale. That would move the wheel up and the cart down.
3. Cut all those glove boxes out of it.
5. Add air shocks for a bike to it!

The DS I lowered I flipped the front spring upside down and flipped the centering pin. On the back we went to Autozone and bought a $35 2" drop kit and just put the blocks in with the new u-bolts. That easy. Didn't have camber issues. You will need shorter shocks or to raise the upper shock mounts on the front. That's it do the whole job - shocks for 35 bucks.

Hey there..

I just bought a 2002 Club Car and I think I am going to lower it.
When you say flip the from spring, there is an upper and lower, which one?
Flippin the centering pin as well. Not sure what you mean. Do you have any pics?

Thanks,

-Scott

Scotty normally DS's only have one front leaf spring on the front with a arms on the top. You jack it up and put it on jack stands. Under the center of the front there is 4 bolts. Undo them and undo the bolts on the king pins that hold the leaf spring on the ends. Once it's out you will see a centering pin with a nut on one side. Take that out and put it in from the other way. After that install the spring upside down. For the back we used some 2" lift/drop blocks from autozone that came with new u bolts. It took a bit of work to get the new u bolts in the rear. Once in we trimmed the u bolts for clearence. That's it hole thing dropped 2 inches. Gives it a great stance. I'll try to find some pics if I can.
