Yamaha G16 steering

I need some opinions. I am working on my custom cart and trying to figure out the best approach on the front steering? The original stock steering doesn't work because I need to angle the steering wheel down at least a good foot. I currently have a CC DS rack n pinion, steering knuckles, and steering column. But the tie rods are tapered and the spindles are skinny so I cannot thread it up all the way to tighten it. Any suggestions? (Rack and pinion is just zip tied there for mocking purposes.)https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...59da5bfd68.jpg

So you are using Club Car steering on a Yamaha G16?

I would use all Yamaha parts, but just use the rack and column off the Club Car. Then you'll have to make your own tie rods. You can make a mount for the rack so that the shaft is at the proper angle you need for the steering column. I used an EZGO column because it uses a shaft with universal joints like a hot rod column. I just extended the steering shaft to the length that I needed to mate up to the rack.

Thats the plan. Everything is yamaha except the rack and steering column. The hardest part is the taper on the rack n pinions tie rod end with the thin spindle

You can use a heim joint. Just remove the tapered tie rod ends and replace them with a high angle heim joint. I used chomoly heims with the teflon bushing on mine. They've held up great over the years, with lots of off road abuse. I used aluminum sweged rods for tie rods. All the parts came from Speedway Motors.

Is EZGO metric or standard thread? I believe Club Car is standard thread if I'm not mistaken?
