36V club car resistor mounting bracket

Hi Guys i inherited an old 83 Club car resistor cart. Well i have been trying to fix all kinds of things on it. Today one of the resistor coil brackets broke and i feel they will al break as soon as i start working on them. Can i make new ones out of stainless? I have scrap laying around and don't mind a little work. was also wondering if I shortened the coil a tad could i pick up some speed. Thanks guys

Shortening the coils won’t increase speed- at full speed a cart like that bypasses all the resistors and runs wide open- batteries straight to the motor. The resistors are the old fashioned way of providing slow speeds.

The best thing you can do for it in the future is get a solid-state conversion kit from Scotty at cartsunlimited.net.

Welcome to the site BTW.

You’re talking about the metal plate that goes between the solenoid and the coil? Stainless should work fine for that. I believe they are aluminum originally.
