07 DS Halogen Headlights to LEDs

1 Attachment(s)
Hi,

So I have one of the usual headlight, taillight, brake light, reverse light, kits. I just installed an Alltrax 500amp controller, and now when the controller is on full tilt, my headlights dim. I had the batteries tested and they are good. There just only so much current available I guess. So, I saw LED headlights at the Golf Cart store a few days ago, but the guy said the holes cut into my body for my headlights will be too big for the LED light kit. Has anyone else run into this? Attached is a picture of my headlights.

Do the lights stay dim or just when you first take off? If the later you could use a cap and diode in line for the lights to smooth out the surge.

I like these LED bulbs. They look like the ideal plug & play situation for me. What is a part number for them or where can i buy some???

You most likely don't have a voltage converter as they would provide stable 12v output down to 30v pack voltage.

If You have your lights connected to just a few batteries, You are better off investing on a good (20+amps) 48v->12v voltage converter.

It is too late to reverse any damage done to your old batteries, but this will prolong the life of your new batteries when you replace them.

You should also have a digital voltmeter wired to the dash so You can monitor how low the batteries get under load.

Check the site sponsors like cartsunlimited.net for both items.

Ok I think I can use the LED light kits that are for sale on Amazon unless a vendor here can get a better price on them.

The LED bulb replacements are cool, but I think I like the look for the LED headlights.
