Headlight issue

Hello all,

I recently joined and I am the proud owner of a 2004 DS 48 volt and here is the problem I am encountering...

Decided to add headlights to the cart and the first time i turned them on both bulbs took a crap but, the rear and parking lights worked just fine. i thought i did something wrong so I went ahead and ordered new bulbs.

I went to install the bulbs today, before i installed them i tested the voltage and it showed 12 volts. I plug in the bulb and all the lights (rear and parking) turned off... did the same test on both sides and same thing. Could there be a short somewhere?

As stated before I got a 48 volt with a voltage reducer for the accessories. The reducer is rated at 20 amp.

BTW I tried using the search function but I was not sure on how to search since the issue that im having IMO cant be described in just a few words.

Thanks in advance!

Make sure you do NOT have anything grounded to the frame.

Nope, I am grounded to the battery pack.

Re: Headlight issue

is it 3 wires at tail light ?

quick way to test is to unplug tail lights and see if head lights work

Went ahead and unplugged tail lights... still having the same issue :(

May be a stupid question but, i didnt use a relay. Would that make a difference?

no .. i don't use them ... can you hook up a 12v car battery to just lights to see if it is in wires ?

So, came to find out that the only light bulb i was using had the polarity reversed!

I used the 2nd light bulb and bam! There was light. The other light bulb i went ahead and trimmed it the plug would fit with the right polarity.

Thanks for the help!
