1983 club car

I’m having some issues with an older cart. Have a 1983 club car 36 V. I replaced just about everything on the cart. New solenoid’s new microswitches I’ve taken every connection apart cleaned it and put it back together and I still can’t get this thing to move. It was working last year until I melted one of the battery terminals due to a loose connection while charging. Once I replaced the battery the cart sputtered a little bit and then died. I’ve been troubleshooting the problem for weeks and it still does nothing. I do not have any voltage moving through the solenoids. Please help

:sign3:

So you replaced one battery. What about the others?

Let's start with your batteries.

Yes - what is the battery pack voltage while at rest. And is it the same when you press the gas to go? Or less?
83 CC is a 5 solenoid drive system so with the rear wheels off the deck and the seat removed you should be hearing 5 clicks as you slowly depress the gas.

I was in the process of replacing my batteries. I had 4 new ones and the other 2 were older. I melted one and replaced it. So now I have 4 new 6 v and a 12 deep cell boat battery. I have 36 v resting. All the solenoids are firing when you push the gas. If I test from the neg to the main solenoid I get 36 v and from the pos battery to the last solenoid I get 36 volts. When I press the gas all the solenoids fire and I get no voltage between the main and the last solenoid.

:read2: Well, there's a lot of reasons you should not do that.

I'm not certain that is the cause of your immediate problem but that battery setup can't work long. No way to charge it for one thing.

I am just trying to make sure it will run if I buy 2 more batteries. It’s temporary for now. The previous owner was running 3 12 v boat batteries when I bought it. I’ve checked everything I can think of as far as I can tell the motor should be doing something.

Look at the cables going to the motor. Any loose, rusted, spun around like an insulator is broken?

I took off all the cables today cleaned and reattached every thing snug.

Did you jack up the rear wheels off the ground like Scotty told you?

Yeah it’s on jack stands.
