97 cc ds48v stopped working

driving on the course on a wet day. put in reverse to back up,which i did, then switched to forward and it would not go. so now its been a month in the garage, the cart is charging, all the lights, horns, and buzzers work. upon placing the key in the on position and the F/R switch in forward, then press the pedal, i get the click in the motor but nothing happens. have been advised it could be solenoid, controller, or computer. need help in identifying the likely issues and the procedures i may go about in finding the problem. this forum is my last resort before calling in the repairman. i would prefer to learn and repair it myself. collective rugged individualism.:-P

surely all you buggie nuts have had this same problem. i have read similiar posts but none ever shook out to a solution. i suppose once its fixed, they're done. a quick note; prior to the cart quitting, for a few weeks when engaging the F/R switch to reverse, it would need a finesse jiggling to get the cart to go in reverse. provided the F/R switch is the problem, how would you go about checking? reluctant to plunk down $120 to see if it is indeed the problem.

start by jacking the rear up jumping the large post on solenoid turn key on put in gear and press pedal see if cart runs.......if so replace even a clicking solenoid can be bad.....how wet did it get? have you checked battery voltage with a meter? if not also do that and if you can load test them also....and take a good look at all your cables make sure one didn,t break off somewhere, even though lights and buzzer works all that means is you have some battery power so try and pul, tug, cables to make sure all are tight...................we can try and eliminte one thing at a time..................................8)

Thanks for the advice. I will do those tests tomorrow and post results.

When jumping the large post on the solenoid, not entirely sure what to do. There is a line in and a line out? I connected the two with a single side of jumper cables w no result. How do I check my batteries. I can turn wrenches and do just about anything but my brain does not understand electricity.
