Gas Deer Hunting Cart?
 

I hunt 220 acres of somewhat hilly land. We've been using a couple old electric carts but I'm ready to buy a newer one to refab into a hunting rig.

I like electric becouse they are quite. I'm wondering if a gas cart would work without alerting evey deer in the area?

Where I'm from most folks who hunt mobile use four wheelers, which are usually louder than a gas cart, but they kill deer. Gas carts are nowhere near as quiet as electric, but you don't have to worry about running out of juice if you intend on doing much riding. But to answer your question, no you won't scare every deer out of the woods, but you wont be able to ride up on one as easily on a gas cart versus an electric cart.

You'll have more Torque with a gas .
And like RR said it is not as loud as a 4 wheeler.

The main advantage to me of gas carts is you can take them through water without much worry of damage. When I raised my volts from 36 to 48 I had plenty of torque. On a fresh charge I could ride all day without runnung out of juice. I have a electricity at my camp so I could recharge at night. Good batteries should take you 20 miles, and thats a long ways through the woods.

It will be tough for me to buy a gas cart. I'm just looking at pros and cons before I buy another one. My buddy thought electric carts were stupid until we drove by a doe 50 yds out with her back to us. It was a bit windy though.
We are charging the carts at camp with a generator for now so it's abit of a pain. If there is a way to get a gas cart quite I might consider one.

Thats charging with a generator at camp .
We have no electric other then that.

I didnt know you already had a 48 volt cart.
If it was me ... I do believe Id stick with the electric cart.
Im in no way wanting to go Mud boggin with mine
we have 1 low area on our lease that when there is alot of rain
it get purdy bad , when its like that I just chose another road to travel.

You might check out a Bad Boy Buggy. We've got a dealer in town who brought 1 to a tractor pull and pulled the sled with it. It shocked me at the torque that thing had. I can't understand why small engines have to be so loud. You can get an old Cadillac 500cid engine whisper quite but from leaf blowers to rhinos the engines are loud. I guess the muffler restriction kills small displacements.
I had a buddy that added an additional homemade muffler to his lawn riding lawn mower. He took a piece of pipe that would fit over mower muffler end, drilled holes randomly through it(30-40 holes), pipe went through a large can(coffee can size), and packed the can with steel wool. I never heard it but he said it reduced sound by about 50%. It would seem to me it should not reduce power because of the staight through design.

Another thing to consider with having an electric over gas for hunting is being scent free. Not only is the electric going to be quiet in the woods but scent-free. You wont smell like exhaust/gas fumes when walking in the woods or leave a scent trail. Ive been searching for an electric cart in our price range so we can fix it up for hunting. Electric carts and hunting is the way to go.
