Precedent steering problem
My club car precedent has recently developed a steering problem. While riding in a straight line if I turn the wheel in either direction it's really tight for about a quarter of the turn then as the cart travels into the turn it loosens up throughout the remainder of the turn but when I try to turn it back to straight it gets tight again. Makes no difference whether I turn left or right. Does the steering rack have a grease fitting? Maybe it just needs to be greased.

Re: Precedent steering problem
Not an expert on these but I would suspect the steering rack. Wonder if it's a bad tie rod end. Did the cart have any hits into anything?

Re: Precedent steering problem
No fitting on steering rack.
There are grease fittings on each spindle, according to service manual, you should jack up front of cart to grease spindles. Do that. Do you hear any grinding or bad sound from rack when you turn wheel at stand still? If you raise cart, and turn wheels does it bind? |
Re: Precedent steering problem
It may be the universal joint in the steering shaft. I've read about them causing that problem.

Re: Precedent steering problem
Try some oil on the ball and socket of the tie-Rod too, as I have seen them tighten up before.
