2003 iq troubles surprise suprise.

So just like many others I'm having issues with my 2003 club car iq 48v. The cart has a plum quick bandit motor in it 4g wires, new battery's. Very fast I've topped out at 24.6 so far and battery's are still wearing in. The problem. I'll be running around operating normal the it seems to slip in to limp mode. I'll let of the gas or put it in reverse for a sec then it goes back to normal. Very odd. I have installed the solenoid switch cable from the dealer. Cart is still doing it seems to go to around 8 mph until I stop and reverse then go forward again. The horn does not beep or anything. Any help would be great.

I think the 8mph is the normal response from the controller when it looses the speed sensor signal.

Sounds like a speed sensor, but my cart did the same thing after checking all wires, I had a loose cable on the controller. Check all connections by loosening and retighten.

I will be checking all the wires tonight. I found some speed sensors on ebay for like 30-40 bucks are these junk?

Changed the speed sensor same problem. I'm guessing the mcor is next. Ugh...

Don't bother to change the MCOR. That's not the problem. I've never seen an MCOR that would work perfectly sometimes and then go into limp mode the next. When the throttle frequency of an MCOR is screwed up, it's screwed up all the time. I would suspect a week pulse from the modified high speed magnet. Contact plum quick and talk with them about it. They'll be able to examine the magnet for you. If the sensor detects a weak pulse, it will trigger limp mode just like it would if the speed sensor were bad.

Thank you tahoedawg. I will be calling them tomorrow. It's strange that it does it very rarely then when I reverse and forward a couple times it rides normal.

This was what I got from plum quick.

Sounds like mcor dropping the signal, next time when the cart does this…….stop and pump the pedal, if the cart takes off good……..it’s the mcor. You can put a jumper wire in the 2 wire plug connector from the mcor.

Are they telling you to put that jumper wire, and leave it in? Or are they just telling you that is how you check it?

Do what they say and see what it does. They know what they're talking about.
